Shipping & Delivery Policy
Last Updated: August 2026
Thank you for shopping with us! Because we ship delicate, live botanical specimens, our logistics process is handled with extreme care to ensure your plants arrive healthy and vibrant.
By placing an order on our Site, you acknowledge and agree to the shipping timelines, dispatch schedules, and strict unboxing protocols outlined below.
1. Shipping Rates & Box Capacities
Our shipping rates are dynamically calculated at checkout based on the volume of your order. We utilize a standardized flat-rate tiering system based on our optimal plant travel boxes:
· Flat Rate: R150 per standard shipment box.
· Standard Box Dimensions: 45cm x 30cm x 30cm.
· Standard Box Capacity Guidelines: A single R150 shipping box typically accommodates:
o Up to 8 small plants, ORUp to 4 medium plants, OR Up to 2 large plants, OR Any equivalent mixed volumetric combination thereof.
· Bulk Orders: Orders exceeding the volumetric capacity of a single standard box will automatically calculate additional box rates at checkout to ensure your plants are not crushed or damaged during transit. For bulk orders larger than the shipping parameter limits allowable on our online store, we request that you contact us directly via anovaburstcc@gmail.com or via the “contact us” functionality on our website to
receive a quotation.
· Delivery to remote/outlying area’s- If you are located in a area that may only receive shipments via PUDO/Lockers, please contact us via anovaburstcc@gmail.com before checkout for shipping arrangements. Door to door shipments in remote/outlying areas may incur additional shipment fees that you will be invoiced for before dispatch.
2. Bare-Rooted Shipping Method
To ensure the health of the specimens and prevent soil-borne pests or weight-related shipping damage, all of our plants are shipped bare-rooted unless otherwise stated on the product listing.
- The plant is carefully removed from its potting medium.
- The root system is thoroughly cleaned and wrapped securely in protective, moisture-retaining material.
- Upon arrival, these plants require immediate potting into an appropriate soil medium and a gentle watering to recover from transit.
3. South African Courier Partners
We ship nationwide within the borders of South Africa using trusted, reliable express courier networks:
- RAM/The Courier Guy/ /Fastway Couriers ect.
We do not ship to P.O. Boxes or via the South African Post Office. A physical delivery address where someone is available to receive the package during standard working hours is strictly required. If you reside in a remote area that can only receive locker delivery (such as PUDO) please contact us directly via anovaburstcc@gmail.com or via the “contact us” functionality on our website prior to cart-checkout for a quotation of shipping and to confirm your order.
4. Strict Shipping Schedule & Order Cut-Off Times
Plants are sensitive to prolonged transit, therefore we aim to avoid weekend-warehousing delays by enforcing a strict shipping and cut-off schedule:
- Weekly Shipping Days: We dispatch packages on Mondays and Tuesdays as standard practice. Dispatch on any other days remains at our discretion.
- Order Cut-Off Time: The cut-off for the upcoming week’s shipment is Sunday at 17:00.
- Orders Placed After the Cut-Off: Any orders placed after Sunday at 17:00, or at any point mid-week, will be safely held in our nursery under optimal conditions and dispatched on the following Monday or Tuesday.
5. Transit Shock and Weather Delays
- Natural Variance & Shock: Bare-rooted plants are living things experiencing a temporary lack of soil. It is completely normal for them to experience "transit shock". This may present as minor leaf dropping, slight yellowing, or temporary wilting. Your plant will recover quickly once properly potted, watered, and given appropriate light.
- Extreme Weather Holds/Route closures: In the event of a severe national heatwave, extreme cold snap, localized flooding or road closures due to any other cause, along your delivery route, we reserve the right to temporarily hold your shipment for a few days to ensure the biological survival of the plant. We will notify you via email or if a weather/road closure hold is activated.
6. Strict 24-Hour Unboxing Obligation & Claims
In compliance with Section 19 of the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA), we bear the risk of transit damage or loss until the package is successfully delivered to your specified address. However, because bare-rooted plants degrade rapidly without immediate re-potting/care, your right to file a transit claim is subject to the following strict conditions:
- Immediate Unboxing: You must physically open and unbox your plants within 24 hours of the courier tracking system marking the package as "Delivered". Leaving bare-rooted flora sealed inside a shipping box voids our ability to assess transit failure versus post-delivery suffocation.
- 24-Hour Reporting Window: Any claim for a plant that has arrived dead, severely diseased, broken, or structurally destroyed by the courier must be emailed to us within 24 hours of delivery. Please see our refund policy for further details.
- Required Photographic Evidence: Your claim email must include clear, unedited photos or videos showing:
o The condition of the external shipping box.
o The plant immediately upon extraction from the packaging.
o A clear, close-up view of the bare root system.
Failure to report transit damage or provide required photographic evidence within 24 hours of delivery will result in the immediate forfeiture of your claim.
7. Exclusions from Shipping Liability
We do not accept liability, nor will we issue refunds or replacements, for plant decline, shock, or death caused by:
- The courier being unable to deliver because no one was home at your specified address.
- Incorrect or incomplete delivery addresses provided at checkout.
- Improper potting techniques, incorrect soil choice, or over or under watering upon arrival.
- Subjecting the bare-rooted plant to immediate, intense direct sunlight or extreme outdoor elements before it has acclimated.
