This exceptionally hardy, miniature bromeliad is celebrated for its compact rosette of near-black leaf bases that transform into a vivid, glowing pink-to-red crown under bright lighting. Its extra-small stature makes it remarkably versatile; it serves as a stunning accent on windowsills, an eye-catching outdoor feature for water-wise South African rockeries, or an ideal fit for brightly-lit terrariums and vivariums. Whether mounted on garden trees or nestled into a glass enclosure, it brings effortless tropical charm to any space.

Cultivation & Care

Family: Bromeliaceae

Growth style/Plant Type: Miniature, clump-forming evergreen perennial bromeliad. Naturally behaves as an epiphyte (growing on trees) or a lithophyte (growing on rocks).

Light: Strong filtered light to partial sun. Thrives in very bright spaces; direct morning sun maximizes its deep pink and red coloration

Water: Low to moderate requirements. Pour water directly into the central leaf rosette/cup. In enclosed terrariums, ensure excellent air circulation and allow the substrate to dry out between waterings to prevent stale water stagnation and rot.

Soil: Requires an exceptionally well-drained, airy, and shallow medium. Best planted in coarse orchid bark, pumice, or gravelly mixes; it can also be securely wrapped in moss and mounted onto driftwood or rock walls within a terrarium or garden landscape.

Humidity/Temperature: Highly adaptable and temperature-tolerant.

Plant Size: This listing is for a single, well established live specimen of approximately 15-25cm
