Canary Creeper (Senecio tamoides)

Add some golden sunshine to your landscape with Senecio tamoides, a proudly South African plant.

This fast-growing, evergreen climber is famous for its fleshy, glossy-green leaves and magnificent heads of sweetly scented, bright-yellow daisy flowers that erupt into bloom from autumn to winter. Perfectly adapted to the South African climate, it acts as a resilient, water-wise scrambling groundcover or boundary cover in coastal and bushveld gardens, while seamlessly doubling as a striking, cascading pot plant for indoor sunrooms and patios.

Cultivation & Care

Family: Asteraceae (the daisy family).

Growth style/Plant Type: Fast-growing, semi-succulent evergreen climber or scrambling groundcover.

Light: Thrives in full sun to semi-shade outdoors, and bright, indirect sunlight when kept indoors.

Water: Waterwise; water sparingly using the "soak-and-dry" method as it is highly drought-tolerant once established and vulnerable to overwatering.

Soil: Rich, loamy, but strictly well-drained soil.

Humidity/Temperature: Prefers warm, subtropical conditions; it can tolerate mild frost but will die back in severe winter cold before rapidly shooting fresh growth back from the roots in spring

Plant Size: This listing is for a single, well established plant specimen of approx. 25cm-45cm. (2l grow bag equivalent)

The plants pictured represent our actual stock and are intended for illustrative purposes.

Due to the unique nature of each live plant, individual plants supplied may vary slightly in size, shape, and color distribution.

To minimise the risk of damage to the plant during shipping, all plants are meticulously packaged in protective packaging, wrapped in moisture retaining medium where appropriate and shipped bare rooted (without pots and soil) unless otherwise stated.
