Improve soil aeration and elevate your plant presentation with this premium, washed Silica Sand. Composed of pure crushed quartz, this chemical-free medium is completely inert. It will not alter your soil pH or introduce unwanted minerals to sensitive root systems, making it an essential component for a wide range of specialized plant collections.

Horticultural Preparation Note: While this sand is pre-washed during manufacturing, it must be thoroughly rinsed in a bucket with clean water before mixing it into your pots, to clear away fine residual quartz dust. Left unwashed, fine silt can settle, compact, and cement together inside the pot, which actively blocks drainage and suffocates delicate root zones. Rinsing also flushes away any minor surface impurities or mineral trace deposits that could harm highly sensitive species like Venus flytraps or sundews. Rinse until the wash water runs completely crystal clear.
1kg bag 100% pure washed silica quartz sand - Fine horticultural grade
pH Level: Neutral and completely inert
Succulent, Cactus, & Carnivorous Species: Prevents critical root rot in Echeveria, Haworthia, lithops, Venus flytraps, and Drosera by mimicking their natural, gritty habitat.
Bonsai & Caudiciform Trees: Excellent as a structural grit component for Adenium (Desert Rose), Ficus, and juniper bonsai soil mixes to encourage dense, fibrous root branching.
Aroids & Tropical Houseplants: Provides sharp drainage when mixed into potting mixes for Anthuriums, Monsteras, and Philodendrons, preventing soggy root conditions that trigger yellowing leaves.
Orchids & Epiphytes: Adds necessary grit and structural weight to terrestrial orchid mixes, helping anchor top-heavy stems securely without choking air circulation.
Propagation and Cuttings: Acts as a sterile rooting medium when mixed with peat or perlite, providing the perfect texture for fragile new roots to grip without rotting.
Gnat and Pest Prevention: Functions as a sharp physical barrier when applied as a thick top layer, disrupting the life cycle of fungus gnats by preventing them from laying eggs in the damp soil below.
Aesthetic Uses: Excellent as a clean, bright top dressing for indoor potted plants or decorative layer in terrariums.
