Umbrella Sedge (Cyperus alternifolius)

Bring the serene elegance of a miniature wetland into your home or garden with the Umbrella Sedge. These are not cuttings; they are established juvenile plants featuring multiple vigorous stalks and robust root systems.

Propagated using the specialized leaf-tip method from premium mother stock, these plants are genetically primed for rapid growth and resilience.

A Multi-Functional Green Masterpiece

Wildlife Sanctuary: A magnet for local biodiversity, providing critical nesting material and shelter for weavers and other indigenous water birds.

Vertical Interior Design: With its architectural, "Umbrella" silhouette, it serves as a stunning piece of living art for modern offices or minimalist home corners.

Floral & Decor: The tall, geometric bracts are a favorite in the floral industry, providing a long-lasting, sophisticated filler for fresh or dried arrangements.

Grey Water Filtration: It is a top choice for natural grey water systems, helping clean domestic water for garden reuse: A critical priority during South Africa's 2026 "water resilience" shift.

Care Guide:

Arrival Ritual: As a true aquatic plant, it needs immediate hydration. Soak the bare roots in a bucket of water for 2 hours upon arrival before potting.

The Golden Rule: Keep the roots wet! This plant thrives in standing water, making it perfect for pond edges or containers kept in a deep, water-filled saucer.

Light: Thrives in full sun to partial shade. Indoors, place it in your brightest window to maintain its lush green verticality
